When you enter the building of the Nelson Town Offices, most likely the first smiling face that you will see will be that of our Town Clerk / Tax Collector, Theresa M. Upton. Teri, as she is known by all, has held this post for many years, and makes herself available to help the townspeople of Nelson and Munsonville to:

Obtain or Renew Vehicle Registrations:
* Renewals:
The owner must have the previous registration in hand at the time they are re-registering the vehicle, to avoid a $12.50 duplicate registration fee.

* Vehicles which are being newly registered:
The owner must present in person a bill of sale, and a title (if the vehicle is 15 years old or newer).

* Transferring plates:
You must have the registration in hand of the vehicle that the plates are being transferred from.

Obtain Dog Licenses
Dogs must be registered by April 30th of each year. A rabies certificate is required.
Rates:
Spayed or neutered $6.50 (proof required)
Not spayed or neutered: $9.00
Puppies (3 to 7 months) $6.50
Dog Owners over age 65: $2.00
Additional dogs are at regular rates.

Register to Vote:
Residents of Nelson may register to vote at the Town Clerk's office during business hours, or at the polls on election day.

Requirements for voter registration include a photo ID and verification that you are residing in Nelson. Verification can be in the form of a piece of mail which you have received at a Nelson address, or a receipt for rent paid for your housing.
